In the present context, questioning the kind of knowledge that images are capable of generating is no easy task. We are living at a time marked by the unbridled circulation of visual content that does nothing but reinforce increasingly more standardized versions of life. This is true to the extent that we now equate “images” with whatever happens to appear on screens both private and commercial, thereby disarming any possible critical potential. But images are much more than their simple visual condition. They refuse to be reduced to the logic of throwaway consumption or univocal representation.
En una época que no cesa de anunciar su fracaso y de reiterar que nos hemos quedado sin futuro, sin un fundamento estable donde asentar una vida social o un ecosistema del que formar parte sin fragilizarlo, la sensación de estar al borde del colapso se ha vuelto una condición casi estructural. Este estado de inquietud no solo atraviesa nuestras formas de vida, sino que impregna también el modo en que nos relacionamos con las imágenes. ¿Qué lugar ocupan hoy en esta compleja trama de experiencias? ¿Qué posibilidades nos ofrecen para pensar lo que está ocurriendo, más allá de sus complicidades con los nuevos sistemas de producción?
