À la lumière

Light can be considered in two ways. On the one hand, it is what allows the appearance of beings, or their comprehension (if we make it a metaphor for any “enlightenment”); it is then a simple "condition" of what is, of what is found in it, and which it makes visible. On the other hand, one can consider it for itself, as its own power, a reality certainly, which one can name, but which is nevertheless different from “things”. In this second sense, “In the light” would be understood in the dedicatory form, a dedication to cosmic spatiality in its infinite expansion, ignoring the limits (and finitude) of bodies. It is this double orientation of our relationship to light that this exhibition would like to suggest: because light, as such, can never be approached “in the light” of its own mise en abyme! And, just as thought cannot think itself, light cannot appear outside the opaque bodies which are consumed within it.
